Middleton Farmers' Market - Intrested in Vending?

Interested in Vending?

Who can sell?
Agricultural producers, artists, crafts people, prepared food.
60% of what is marketed by a vendor must be of the vendor's own production
40% may be items the vendor has purchased to resell, but those things must be produced locally, and there should be signs for customers about where those products came from.
Other products and vendors may be accepted upon request.
The Middleton Farmers Market reserves the right to limit vendors in certain product categories to maintain a balanced variety of products at the market. This will apply mostly to crafts. Agricultural producers are always welcome.

What Does the Market Provide? Market space (10' x 10' ) & Parking for one vehicle
Tables - Vendors must bring their own.
Shelter - The market does not provide shelter at this time. Vendors are strongly encouraged to equip themselves with a shade/rain canopy of some type.
Electricity - may be arranged if needed
Bathrooms - located in Town Hall
Parking for customers in Church lot next to Market site, and overflow lot is behind Baptist Church across the street from the Market.

Fees:
Weekly table fee $15 charged to regular vendors who pay a $25 yearly membership fee. $20 charged to casual vendors, no yearly membership fee.

Member Benefits:
Same spot every week, Website and Facebook Group listing, participation in Market Board meetings and special events. Market development is a two way street. Vendor base must be there to draw customers, and customers must support vendors. A market can only be successful if the customers can depend on vendors being there. To that end we have asked that any Member Vendor who joins the market be prepared this year to commit to at least 8 weeks of steady participation.

Market Mix
To preserve the vibe and intent of this market as a FARMERS market, we have set some immediate parameters on market growth. For this year, 2010, the rough market mix of Member Vendors shall be:
primary producers (farmers) - minimum 1/3, ideal 50-60%
prepared food, baked goods, other edibles - 1/3
non food items - max 1/3
Once these 1/3 ratios are reached, the market can only grow in vendor membership as the number of primary producer vendors grows.
Casual Vendors are not included in the overall market mix. We can continue to take non food or prepared food vendors beyond the agreed mix as Casual Vendors until the numbers of interested Casual Vendors once again threatens to upset the farmers market feel. We will also limit non food vendors if there are several vendors selling similar items. If limiting of Casual Vendors becomes necessary, we will implement a rotating schedule allowing different casuals to rotate in and out of the market.

Set up and Tear Down
Vendors are expected to be fully set up by 2:00 pm when the market opens. Vendors must stay until the end of the market. Early tear down is not permitted as it negatively impacts the vibe of the market and because of the potential for injury driving a vehicle out through a crowded market space. Vendors are encouraged to help out those who may need assistance and work as a team.

Cancellations
Please keep in touch with the market coordinator which dates you will be attending. A minimum 24 hour cancellation notice is necessary to ensure the market layout does not have gaps.
